Renovating can be a cost-effective way to create the home you have always wanted or to improve the value of your property.

A Building approval will be required for any renovation that makes structural changes to the building or structure. You won't require a building permit if you are, for example, repainting your ceiling/walls, changing door handles, and making other small renovations.

A building certifier is required to provide the necessary approvals and to conduct the necessary inspections if you are knocking down walls, removing or adding supports, or constructing new rooms. The same applies to conversions, such as taking a garage or shed and making it into a bedroom, an office, a granny flat, or another living space.
